There's still an outstanding bug dealing mysql and Mythbuntu 9.04 (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-dfsg-5.0/+bug/326768
), so you might want to try the workaround listed in the bug
description and see if it resolves your issue.
