Definitely not lately.  The very first thing I ever tried was probably the
radeon driver, or whatever is packaged as the default in MythDora 5.  I
recall that for HD, it was completely unable to keep up on my CPU (4850e),
whereas the proprietary fglrx and nvidia drivers are just fine.  I should
have another look -- at least until myth/vdpau is released, then it's
bye-bye ATI. :)
