I doubt that would prove anything. Repeat showings of the same episode may
well not be shown at the same bit rates.

You could use mplayer or ffmpeg on the recorded file to see what it thinks
the bitrates are, and what streams are encoded within the data. See if
there is anything obvious different (teletext subtitles, interactive data,
multiple audio channels)
