I have been running with this patch for a few days now, it really does help.
The only problem now is the .21 internal player does not handle the
output files well, in terms of seeking. Playback is flawless with the
VDPAU backport to .21. However the length is almost always
misreported (too short) and seeking is unpredictable, often seeking
many minutes instead of the configured 30 seconds.
My one frontend capable of playing back the content is connected to
the main TV in the house. Time is short when I can experiment with
the frontend on .22. I'll report back when I have more info.
I will also update the VDPAU wiki to more clearly explain why someone
may want to apply the DeviceReadBuffer patch.
