Hi

Reading this thread is what triggered me to do the upgrade to my
backend I had been postponing for too long.

My storage system is made of 3 disks (2x750GB + 1TB) under LVM .. One
of the disk has crashed several times ; and it shows over 800 SMART
errors...

I had the PC hang a few times when trying to access some sectors on this drive.

There are 2.2TB of data to copy across the new RAID I've set up:
5x1.5TB in RAID5 with mdadm + LVM + JFS...

Using rsync to copy the files ; it's been running for over 20 hours
already. The transfer rate is over 55MB/s most of the time ; but there
are time it copies at no more than 6MB/s and I can see the number of
errors in smart increasing...

It was just about time I migrated the files.. my drives were just about to die.

Out of 7,500GB of disk space ; the total space available is
5,860,279,444KB. So 22% wasted...
