What do you mean by timer ?
Live-TV = Playing the mpeg-ts file, which also can be transcoded, 
nothing different from watching live-tv.
Actually mpeg-ts hase more timing information than mpeg-ps AFAIK, that's 
why it's used for broadcasting.
