[mythtv-users] running mplayer top-justified rather than centered vertically?

I have configured X to have a 1280x1024 virtual resolution, and send
the full screen to the analog VGA connector while sending 1280x720 to
the DVI connector, which goes to the projector. mythfrontend is
running in 1280x720 mode at the top of the virtual screen, so it fits
the projector's resolution perfectly (the unused bottom part of the
virtual screen is cut off). Anybody know of a way to get mplayer to
do the same thing? I'm using mplayer -fs -geometry 1280x720+0+0 but
the geometry doesn't change its behavior - fullscreen means it will
use the whole virtual screen, so when playing widescreen video I get a
black bar at the top and bottom, with the top black bar visible on the
projector and the bottom of the actual video getting cut off. I
guess I want mplayer to run in a window but give a hint to the window
manager not to have window decorations. Or maybe some other player
can do that?
