You can get HD channels, just captured in analog SD resolution.

Correct. It may work, but you may be unhappy with the channel selection

True, but this will only net you the unencrypted QAM stations, likely to be
the same as option 2.

Your other option is the Hauppauge HD-PVR which will capture in HD analog
via the component outputs. There is rudimentary support for this in Myth's
SVN code and you will need a significantly beefed up PC to play it (H.264
capture, etc). Search the archives for HD-PVR and you'll see what I'm
talking about. But, this is the one method that gets you all your HD
stations in HD capture (digital -> analog, but still) as long as your STB
outputs HD stations on the analog HD outputs.
