You might also be able to use a sub-interface instead of using a  
hardware nic.  While I have used them for other reasons, I've never  
used them with VPN/mythtv but *should* work...

As a side note, if you have a router where you can define static  
routes (linksys with dd-wrt) then this method is actually pretty easy  
to do... Works like a charm for me...
