I'm not sure if it's that the broadcast is encoded at 50Hz or that the
TV prefers to sync at 50Hz while the card is outputing S-Video frames
at 60Hz but I think that every now and then the same frame gets
displayed twice. [Warning I could wrong about all of this  :-) ]  As
I've said this is completely undetectable 99.9% of the time but it
shows up on scrolling text and (I assume for the same reason) some
sports action is noticeably degraded.  Motor racing is fine, football
and tennis look poor.  I tend to use my freeview box if I need to
record them.

I've bought the bits to make a VGA to SCART cable which I understood
would be a fix.  However, I'm a bit concerned about Alex's post, which
implies that it just creates a different set of problems !  I'll
probably still give it a go though if I get the time.
