So as long as the OP can say his "Other" application wouldn't need
more than 1gb/day, myth cleanup should be running at least once a day
to ensure that 1gb remains free for his other application.  When his
application uses that up, myth would expire another 1gb the next time
cleanup runs.

This is what I do.  I use the same disk for torrent downloads, so I
tell myth to make sure there is 5gb free on the disk and I'm usually
safe.  No messy partitioning of the disk.
