Except in addition to what Nick says below.  There is a gap between the recordings as well.  So this past week, the first time two shows were recorded back-to-back (so it's happened 100% of the time so far), the first show didn't end in the first recording, and by the time the second recording began, a complete (and important to the plot) line of dialog was lost (and I _still_don't know what was said).  My wife was not amused.

Problem is that if one of the recordings is a "watch and throw away"
you end up with part of the adjoining programme missing after you
delete the first one.
