I should have qualified this. This was just for me. I do not watch any
of the channels that we lost except the few times I go to the TVGuide
channel. My SO lost a few of her favorite channels so we needed the
cablecard. Now if I actually needed to record any of the 10 channels
that were moved that would be a problem. And while we are on this
subject, the funny thing is the excuse was to make room for some more
local HD channels. Only problem is NO channels occupy the frequencies
that were vacated from the removed channels...

That upgrade already happened and it actually reduced the price since
it came with 1 STB with a remote. We were paying $5 for the STB and
$0.25 / month to rent a remote.

They tell me this is ~$2 so I am ok with that.

The cablecard gives us many more channels then we have with the STB on
the other TV. I assume eventually they will reduce this though.
