Make a folder some where on your drive..I use var/mythrecordings.
Then change the permissions ,so your user can access it..Then go into 
the backend set up and enter this path where it says storage 
group...Yes,you use esc to back out..
 I would guess you are very new to Linux....Mythttv is great, but it has 
a very large learning curve and requires a lot of reading and 
research... There are people who will help you ,but you won't get much 
hand holding...My suggestion is install Mythbuntu,it's easy to get going 
and is a good way to learn about Mythtv...
