[mythtv-users] Weird slowness with LIRC

I wouldn't use KDE or Gnome for mythtv. While they're both good for
desktop, they have some overhead that you don't need with mythtv and
this takes up resources that you could use for myth. I'd switch to
either fluxbox or ratpoison. I saw a similar issue when I was using
myth with kde as I'd select record a show on the remote and it was a
bit of a delay and it was just enough to make me think it didn't take
so I'd hit it again sometimes. I switched to ratpoison and the
response improved. I'd also try turning off your de-interlace as a
test to see if it improves as I noticed this slows up my remote in
certain situations.
