Eric,

  I can't help much with the video problem, but I was experiencing
problems with my MCE USB remote on Mythbuntu 8.10. I have a FE only
machine that outputs component 480P and while watching HD feeds my CPU
would peg to 100% (AMD 5200+ x2) and the remote would cease to function
for a few seconds to almost a minute. I switched my profile to Slim and
now my remote functions without problem.
