Yes, but you yourself recommend using more horsepower than that given
the troubles you had in achieving this. I certainly wouldn't recommend
a Pentium 4 3.0GHz to anyone starting out today unless absolutely
strapped for cash, both for the desirability for a beginner of a
larger margin of error from more horsepower and because the future is
playback of HD-PVR recordings. (The new Nvidia announcement might very
well totally change this, of course.)

Beyond the removal of XvMC hardware support in 8 series cards and up,
HD-resolution XvMC is broken for most people on older cards,
too. There's a reason why the mythfrontend configuration setting for
XvMC says what it does.
