If by "standard cable" you mean analog I'd look at the PVR-150s, if you
can find one.

For digital (which does not mean "HD") I'd go with the HDHR.

Both these cards are well supported by Linux and Myth.

But if you are looking for a guarantee of functionality, no such thing
exists.
