Yes an no.

Yes you need the machine to have access to schedules to work correctly, 
and that normally means being connected to the internet.  But you do not 
have to have a personal network just either the backend connected to the 
internet, another machine  that has a connect to the internet and the 
knowledge to move the schedules data from that box to your backend computer.
