[mythtv-users] Video corruption on myth 0.21

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here can help me.

I'm fairly new to myth (and linux) having only set it up in the last few
weeks. (I was previously using myTheatre under windows.)

I seem to have it all working ok, apart from an odd problem with the video
corrupting when I change channels, it doesn't happen every channel change,
but fairly regularly, and it looks almost like the horizontal hold has gone
wrong (all diagonal horizonal multicoloured stripes), when the channel
change completes the display will corrupt, including the myth overlays. If I
bring up the EPG with embedded video the display is still corrupt in the
corner of the EPG (although the EPG itself displays fine.) however, then
exiting the EPG will usually restore the video.

Leaving and re-entering TV mode also works too.

This isn't really a big showstopper but it's mildly irritating so I'm
wondering if anyone can help.

Pertanent (hopefully) info:

1. This is a fresh install of Linux (Ubuntu 8), and a fresh install of Myth
compiled from source. (0.21) (I'm a linux noob too, although I have a fair
bit of UNIX/NetBSD experience.)
2. The comp is an Athlon X2 @ 2.4 GHz, on a PCI-E S939 mobo with an ATI
express chipset (It's an Asus A9-MVP if I remember correctly.)
3. The graphics are provided by an ATI 2600 pro (I think, might be an XT)
and it is connected to a TV via a composite connection. (Although this also
happened when I was setting it up and using a monitor.)
4. The input is a Twinhan DVB-C cable card, with the necessary modifications
made to the bt8xx driver to make it work.
5. Output is libmpeg2, Renderer: xv-blit, osd renderer: softblend. (I think
it does it with the other decoder too, I can't get decent results with
opengl although as it took a good few days playing to even get video working
acceptably I prob should play more with open gl video.)
6. HD is 300G, with plenty of free space.

uname -a says:

Linux pvr 2.6.24.3 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 25 16:30:14 BST 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

As I say I have everything else working 100% (even shutdown/wakeup through
mythfrontend which is just fantastic!) apart from the odd video corruption.

Cheers,

Ian
