I stand by the Gyration Media Center Remote.  It uses RF, so it's got
much better responsiveness than IR alternatives, and there's no messing
around with LIRC (though there is some messing around with evrouter).
It is also an air mouse, making it great for stuff like Audiosurf or
Google Earth on your TV.  Plus, it doubles as a programmable IR remote
so you can ditch your other remotes!

You do have to patch the kernel for the power button to work, though.
