My machine cannot drive yadif 2x very well at all... but I'll try it again
tonight as I've tweaked it lately to hopefully perform better... Linear
displays fine for me, even with high motion, however kernel is a little
blurry. I'll hopefully get back about yadif...

Just FYI, yadif 2x killed the video playback, my CPU (P4, 3.4Ghz) apparently
can't handle that method at all...

My core 2 duo 1.8ghz with 1gb ram back under ubuntu 7.10 was able to do
yadif 2x and use 20% of each core, all while running 5 instances of
nuvexport at the same time and doing two commercial flagging jobs on two
simultaneous recordings...so if you think about it, that hard drive is
really sending out a lot of data: 5 exports, 2 recordings, 2 comm flag jobs,
and one watch tv job, equalling 10 different reads all going on at the same
time. Also, i vnc into the server and have it doing all sorts of other
things. This really showed me that linux can handle a lot of tasks at the
same time without a hickup. Keep in mind that I did this all the time and
never had any sort of problem whatsoever.

Then one day, my audio suddenly just died on me and after about a week of
troubleshooting i could not get it working again, so i decided to try
mythbuntu 7.10. Everything worked fine with mythbuntu, even the audio, but
the video playback didn't work with yadif 2x and even with kernel it still
stutters if i run more than 3 nuvexports at the same time.

The reason i like mythbuntu is cause it's so easy to setup. I had big
problems with lirc and just in general getting everything working, and
mythbuntu took care of everything so easily...everything except video.

Anyhow, i think that it could be something else causing the stuttering
because when there is a lot of disk activity, the stuttering comes back no
matter which deinterlacer i use, but when i use kernel, it happens much less
often.

-Any thoughts?
-Thanks
