In single cpu mode (still dual core) this chip (opteron 285) works
fine  and recovers from these errors (somehow without crashing apps or
kernel panics) but when paired with a second cpu that does not have
this problem the machine would cause a kernel panic 1 time every week
to two weeks. I got the chip used off ebay at less than 1/4 of the
retail price so I could not return it.
