Thanks for the pointer. I have been able to modify my crontab script to
properly set $HOME (just like /etc/init.d/mythbackend does)

I get annoyed when a working configuration breaks when all that was done
was an update. Yes, the dev team has the right to change things. But,
the first inkling I had that mythfilldatabase was failing was when I
noticed last week that there were no new recordings since 4/19 (probably
2 weeks after my last good run of MFD). When I looked at my schedule
data in mythweb, the plethora of "no data" confirmed it for me.
Frustrating.
Thanks for the answers. It should be fixed now. I'll know tomorrow
morning for sure.
