Hi Dave,

I'd suggest restoring the backup of your DB from before the upgrade
and trying again. Keep a close eye out for errors.
Check the schema from before hand.
What version are you upgrading from?
What branch/revision from? to?

I'm surprised the God of the MythTV user help (Michael T. Dean) hasn't
jumped in on this thread. (Though it might be the top posting, the
vast majority of the folks round here can't stand top posting and
steer clear of it at all costs..) I wonder if he's got a filter on his
name in email content ;-)

Another suggestion would be to do a fresh install as per the docs.
Then, using your latest working back up do the following to import the
recordings: http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-23.html#ss23.5
