in that case id look through...

/var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if you can work out if the screen will
support other refresh rates....it's possible/likely that if you can
force a refresh of say 75hz rather then 60hz the screens internal
scaler will handle screen layout differently.

If that doesn't work I'm afraid I'm going to suggest googling the
specific screen and the problem to see if anyone has had the problem
elsewhere.

You could also try the appropriate list/wiki for whatever graphics
card your using.
