I have the same experience with broadcast TV. I got one of the $50
converter boxes and tried it out with a pair of rabbit ears. I got
ION, three Spanish channels, and two religious broadcasters. I put
the converter box in my closet and went back to cable.
I wonder if broadcast TV is headed the way of shortwave. When
Internet and satellite radio became common, most major broadcasters
abandoned shortwave and it's now mostly the province of religious
broadcasting.
