The Hauppauge device is not going to make anything possible that was  
not possible before, it's just lowering the price point of doing so.

At present, with no Hauppauge device, only the well-financed  
commercial pirates can afford to to "steal" HD video, which they are  
doing in spades.

It would be awfully hard to pass a law that says you can only make a  
certain device if it costs more that $25,000.
