The advantage of ntp is that the cutlist can be passed around as a
"real" time, rather than an offset. If the adverts start at
20:13:45.5, then that could easily be at 13:45.5 into one recording,
and 23:34.5 into another...

The metadata available through myth (e.g. channel name, times, etc)
would be necessary for this to work anyway, and would at the same time
solve this issue. THe +1 channels could be handled as a special case,
and make use of the same cutlist with an offset. This wouldn't work
for repeat showings because the advert breaks are not necessarily at
the same time - delays in starting, and/or just different adverts...

It's not a completely formed idea - but I do think that it could be a
very useful one, since I'm lazy and don't actually bother with cutting
out the adverts... But if it's something that I could do to help
others (as well as get that help in return), I think I'm more likely
to do it.

I've not really looked into the way that cutlists/commercial flagging
works - so maybe it would be worth doing so to get something in place.
;)
