I suppose the little black box *could* be used as an assist/clue where
it appears.
I think it works "on a negative edge" i.e. box appearing means get the
VCR warmed up to play the ads, box disappears means press play...

Is commflagging currently able to use different methods/settings
depending on the channel?
e.g. standard "terrestrial" channels sometimes use the square and have
relatively short add breaks.
commercial "non-terrestrial" channels (e.g. UK Gold) have longer
ad breaks and tend to turn up the volume.
Being able to have diff. profiles per channel would increase
accuracy...plus we could
keep a record of successful profiles for each channel on the wiki.
( The use of DVB-T should really be able to assist us here, as
theoretically at least everyone's recordings should be practically
identical).

BTW. On the wiki it says:
"Note: 'Automatically flag commercials' in a show's recording options
must be enabled for any method other than 'blank frame detection' to
work. That is to say, only blank frame detection flagging will work if
commflagging is run as a job at a later date."

Why would this be?

Cheers

Steve
