You have the VFD, not the LCD, correct? Keep an eye on the following
page, as there are some people working on it, it appears:

These different versions are just ridiculous. It's like their
engineers are learning hardware design on the job. I've yet to see any
evidence that these changes were done to add any sort of functionality
