I think its a great idea - brought it up recently myself. It
would solve another common request as well - channel
changing speed. When the Frontend is running on the same pc
as the backend it can play recordings directly from disk
which starts really quickly. If you had a rule auto
recording favourite channels you could flip through them
really quickly.

Motivates me to install from trunk and dig through the
frontend source
