I've got the same bug; I compiled mythtv-0.21-fixes (SVN rev 16752)
with no opengl support, so it's definitely using the Qt painter.  When
I try to bring up the guide in live tv, my front end spits out the
above error messages, then crashes:

kernel: mythfrontend[4181]: segfault at 09582000 eip b7a64a50 esp bfca8440 error 6

I don't see any other error messages in the system logs (e.g., complaints
from ivtv).

I've installed the latest Debian package for the xserver:
xserver-xorg-video-ivtv              1.0.0~svn4049-3

and am using ivtv 1.1.0, the one built into kernel 2.6.24.3
