[mythtv-users] LiveTV Channel Browsing Speed (New angle !)

Old discussion I know ... :)

I know the reasons channel changing LiveTV is slow (buffering etc) and have no
desire to suggest changes to that - not feasible or desirable. But
unfortunately for me, the inability to flick through channels is a WAF deal
breaker.

I noticed the recent message on how to auto-record selected channels and had a
thought ...

- We only watch a lmited set of FTA DVB SD channels (5 Transponders/7
Channels)
- Easy for me to get sufficient tuners together to auto record all channel
simultaneously
- Watching recorded TV is near instantaneous

So ... Would it be possible to have the LiveTV viewer display the currently
recording program on the channel your trying to view, rather than trying to
tune a signal? that way channel flipping could be near instantaneous.

Possible problems I can see:
- Recording Seven SD channels simultaneously - to much IO for the disk to
cope? It would be to a local hard disk. Perhaps one dedicated for the
purpose.
- What happens when the currently recording program ends and a new one starts
