[mythtv-users] MythVideo problems after upgrade to 0.21

Hi,

I've recently upgrade my ubuntu based combined front and backend from
0.20 to 0.21. Initially, using the version compiled by mythbuntu from
their weekly builds repo, and as the problem I'm about to ask about
was a bit of a show stopper, now the version of 0.21 that's in the
gutsy-backports repo.

Everything is fine (thanks to everyone that worked on the new
version!) with the exception of mythvideo. basically, there's 2
issues:

1> I can't play any video via mythvideo. Attempts at playback result
in a blank screen for a second or two, before i'm dumped back to the
"film poster" page (ie, just before you confirm that you want
mythvideo to play the file". tailing mythfrontend.log while I try this
results with the following output:
"2008-03-16 22:16:55.816 AFD Error: Could not find codec parameters.
file was /media/myth/video/movie/An.American.Werewolf.in.London.avi".
2008-03-16 22:16:55.816 Couldn't open decoder for:
/media/myth/video/movie/An.American.Werewolf.in.London.avi"

Playback is fine via VLC or Mplayer.

2>  Region 2 dvd's play, but with no audio:

Other regions will play as far as the menu, before generating the
following error repeatedly until I hit esc,  in mythfrontend.log:
"2008-03-16 22:33:54.165 NVP: prebuffering pause"

Again, Playback is fine via VLC or Mplayer.
