I think I've ruled out memory allocation as I can reduce it to a level
where I can consistently get error messages, so I know I am looking in
the right place to spot these messages.

I also tried upgrading to php5 as I notice that is what is stated as
being used by the developers.  Still no luck.

My mythweb setup has been running for a good while now and gone
through a few upgrades.  I'm at a complete loss now I think!
