OS/X is basically just BSD Unix with a "sexy" frontend. Virtually any  
OSS software can be made to run on a Mac.

Recently I needed the original disk that shipped with a G4 iMac. I had  
bought the machine used and the warranty was long expired.

I placed a phone call, and was talking to an English-speaking American  
within a minute. I explained my need and they said they would ship the  
disk for no cost, and they would pick up the overnight shipping charge.

I had my disk before 10AM the next morning.

If there is a MS/Intel type vendor who provides that kind of service  
I'd like to know about them.
