Make that a #2 for me (did I just order a chinese dish??). I had been
using Linux for a while before I started looking for a DVR. The main
reason I moved from Windows to Linux is "Control". I was fed up with
losing control with every new Windows version and when I heard of the
problems Vista was about to unleash, I cut Windows at home completely.
I tried Windows MCE and actually had to give up because it would not
support my video card and was SCREAMING for more RAM.
Fedora with Myth solved that problem. After a while I moved to MythDora
and I have't looked back since (unless it was to see what I _can_ do now
which I would never be able to do with Windows).

Getting control over my systems is still the main reason for me to go
open source. One must keep in mind that being prepared to take the
control is a predicament and not for everybody. I would never trust my
70 year old dad with Linux.
