I see swap is 'touched' although you have a fair amount of memory, I had 
problems which seem to be related to mythcommflag.
I don't know if you do commflagging, but I got this with a hard lock-up
3606 root      32  17  871m 383m 1460 D  0.6 81.2  13:21.02 mythcommflag
with  512MB memory and 512MB swap.
