Just FYI, this depends a *lot* on where you are.  I'm a Comcast customer
 in King County, WA, and I still get a full set of analog channels.  I
do have an STB to get some digital-only ones, like BBC America, but I
control it with a serial cable instead of an IR blaster.  My STB doesn't
have firewire, so I capture off the composite output.
