Same here. I always thought that changing the subject line, when appropriate, 
was the correct thing to do.

This is as opposed to starting a new thread. Sometimes folks want to be able 
to see how the subject has morphed, but new readers should have some idea of 
what's being discussed.

I have also not noticed threading breaking when I do that. This is with Kmail 
and Thunderbird.
