I built a system with a P4 2.4G and it almost worked so I would think
yours would be able to.

This may seem OT, but the first think I would suggest is that you open
your case and clean the CPU fan.  That fixed my wifes computer when it
could not play video.

Anyway, the other thing is that I had XvMC on.  I would think that
would be required.  You didn't say much about the version you are
running but if it is the latest, try CPU-- as the profile.
