I can only give you one "mee to" ... I have an old Acer notebook with
s-video (Intel graphics) and it has the
same problem. I was never able to get anything except 640x480. I
searched a lot, but without any hint.
915resolution did not help.

I think I can remember that xrandr was even showing that 800x600 was
used, but I still could see black border
around the picture. I will check it today again using your commands
although I already have other frontend.
