I have a Lite-On drive. I am on travel now so sadly the specific model #
eludes me. If fails with several brands of media. I have not tried the
"Matrix" brand.

Specifically what model # and firmware version are you each running?

Also, is it possible to reflash the drive with it installed in an Ubuntu
box? If so, a pointer to the download/procedure would be most appreciated.
