Then isn't a simple solution to this problem to simply do this all again when 
changing channels, rather than taking a shortcut to tune the current tuner? 
So each channel change becomes like starting livetv again, but on a different 
channel.  Then even when all tuners are in use, you'll at least be able watch 
any channel on one of the multiplexes being recorded (assuming you have a 
free multirec virtual tuner on each card).
