As David said, use the 'Delete all capture cards' option in
mythtv-setup. This will truncate the relevant database tables and
ensure card numbering is reset.

If you already have channels created by a DVB scan and wish to use
XMLTV data, the best solution is to use the channel editor in
mythtv-setup (or MythWeb) and transfer all XMLTV IDs from the
duplicate channels created by XMLTV configuration to the existing DVB
channels. You can then delete the duplicate XMLTV channels and you
should be left with a single set of tuneable DVB channels with XMLTV
IDs.
