[mythtv-users] MythTV as a Gift (Hardware Recommendations)

Hi Michael,

I'm actually in the process of selecting parts for a Mythbox that is
actually going to be for my family, so I want to get it right the
first time as much as you do. I put together a list of parts here.
The links and comments are all in German, but the names of the
products are the same everywhere, so I hope it helps you.
As for the case, Zalman and OrigenAE both have very "appliance-
looking" cases. You probably wouldn't want to go with the one I
picked because it will be a pain to get the touchscreen to work with
Myth and it's expensive, but the rest of it is a pretty awesome Dual-
DVB-S-tuner Mythbox. Actually, it probably is a bit overkill, but
that way, you have a lot of resources to work with.
I did check if every single part worked with linux and also put some
"notes" in the list (f.i. which drivers the tuner cards need, and a
page with BIOS updates for the mainboard that supposedly make S3
Suspend-to-RAM work perfectly (but maybe it does with the standard
one now, too... the thread I got the link from was pretty old...).
I hope the list helps you (=

regards,
Nils
