[mythtv-users] Software Update always results in X not starting

Here's my on-going saga of OS update problems:

Today, I took the time to update my OS again with all those patches.
I ended up with a kernel version 2.6.22.14-72.fc6. I also lost my
only working kernel that worked with the installed nvidia drivers,
$KVER 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6. So I followed mike's suggestion:
On Oct 12, 2007, 6:10 AM, mike at dividia wrote:

Running the first command, removed all those files just as expected.
Running the second command gave me the message "Nothing to do". The
full transcript for these commands are at the bottom of this email.
Following Jerod's suggested command, "yum -y install nvidia-
graphics9755-kmdl-$KVER", I still got "Nothing to do".
Trying to skip the kernel part and running the command, "yum install
nvidia-graphics9746-libs nvidia-graphics9746", got me the error:
Transaction Check Error:
package kernel-2.6.22.14-72.fc6 (which is newer than
kernel-2.6.22.9-61.fc6) is already installed
If I search through the nvidia drivers using:
[root at localhost ~]# yum search nvidia-graphics9746-kmdl-2.6.22.
The only nvidia-graphics9746 driver is for kernal 2.6.22.9-61.fc6,
"nvidia-graphics9746-kmdl-2.6.22.9-61.fc6".
The only nvidia-graphics9755 driver is for kernal 2.6.22.9-61.fc6,
"nvidia-graphics9755-kmdl-2.6.22.9-61.fc6".
If I understand this correctly, my kernel has to be 2.6.22.9-61 to
use these drivers. Before my Software Upgrade, I had no idea what
version my kernel was going to be. How do I get my kernel to
2.6.22.9-61 so that the nvidia drivers will install? Does 9746 only
come in one version? Ever? Or, what other options are there so I can
get my Myth box running again.
I am now sad, frustrated, and don't know where to go with this
system. Please help me get my video running. Please help by telling
me what I'm doing right, wrong, and what the outcomes should be.
