I have a slingbox connected to my mythtv backend, which is in the basement,
so I dont really have it connected to a TV. I have used a couple of ways
to control the mythtv such as ssh and firing off an xvkbd command or using
asterisk as a remote. You can also control via the telnet interface and I
believe this is how some of the webserver based remotes work.

The video quality is better than my old solution prior to the slingbox. I
had a TV capture card that myth is not using record the output of the
graphics card and then ffserv it to a remote mplayer.

Its been a while since I tried this though.
