Not really. Adding something extra that you might not need is OK.
What the OP is apparently complaining about is that once you have a
DVI connector, it's easy enough to supply the digital signals. It's
very lame if they are not doing that.
Seems to me it ought to be cheaper for both the monitor and video card
chipset makers to leave off the D/As and A/Ds from their low-end
chips, if this is really all about saving cost.
Then again the DVI-D tranceivers might still be separate chips these
days... if so, it needs to be built-in soon.
